View Full Version : Import/Export from/to OE in german

Hi,

I just started using Plaxo Online today. I'm working at a computer which has a german version of Windows XP and Outlook Express as well.
I decided to try an import my address book from this computer to my Online Plaxo Address Book.
First of all: great job you guys did in adding European language support for importing csv files. but...
My outlook Express, which is an up-to-date version, exports csv-files as text files with semi-colons, not commas! so Plaxo did not exept this file until I went and search-raplaced all semicolons to commas in Notepad. Please fix this, wo Plaxo understands semi-colons. That's the way OE seems to do it!

Then exporting.
After being happy, that Plaxo understood the german column titles in my csv file for importing, I was very disappointed to see, that Plaxo does not let me choose the language for exporting my plaxo online address book to a german OE version. I would be very happy if you could do that. In my view, Plaxo does not support exporting the address book until this is possible...

then mozilla:
I believe you should offer a short explanation how to export to Mozilla Thunderbird, or just any mail program in general. Even if Plaxo doesn't integrate into Thunderbird (yet), you could still help these people work with Plaxo online, right?

maybe someone can post their experiences with importing/exporting here too. Has any of you had the same problems?

Hi john_andrew, welcome,

I can help you with getting your contacts from Plaxo Online to Mozilla Thunderbird.
It's actaully very easy. First of all you export your contatcs from Plaxo Online to your Outlook. (That's shoud not be a problem, right?) Export your contacts from Plaxo Online to Outlook, then import from Outlook to Thunderbird. That's the way i do it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

John, welcome to the Plaxo Forum and thanks for sharing your concerns regarding Plaxo's importing and exporting capabilities. I'm glad that we were able to correctly import the German language contacts, umlauts and all, but am sorry that the export wasn't as smooth. I'll chat with our engineers to make sure that issue is looked into.

And Konstantin, thanks for offering the Thunderbird workaround!
