View Full Version : Moving contacts from folder (Help)

July 11th, 2005, 02:28 AM
Hi,

Not sure if it's me who can't find the way in moving contacts from one folder to another folder, need some help and would appreciate if someone can shed some light.

I've created 2 folders, e.g. Friends and General. Imported my contacts into General folder and realised that once I've selected a particular contact to be in the General folder, I can't change it to the Friends folder anymore.

Just wondering if its the lack of feature offered by Plaxo or just plain blind me. :P

Cheryl,

Welcome to the Plaxo Forum.

You don't mention whether you're using Outlook or Outlook Express, or whether you're only accessing Plaxo via the Web.

If you're using Outlook or OE, your best bet is to simply move the contacts from one folder to another; Plaxo will detect the move accordingly.

Unfortunately, if you don't have either of those programs or access to them, there's currently no way to move contacts to different folders. This is, however, something we're looking to enhance in future versions of Plaxo Online.

Thanks AdamGuy for the prompt reply. I'm currently accessing Plaxo via the web. I think it will be a good function to incorporate soon as it will assist people in managing the contacts more efficiently. =)

Hi I have the same problem and use outlook. I do not follow your explanation.
I have now for some reason ended up with more than a dozen different folders on line with overlapping names. What do you suggest?

Hi Plaxothingy, and welcome to the Plaxo Forum.

I think your problem is different than Cheryl's, if I'm not mistaken.

Here are a couple things that might help you:

1) Make sure your folder mapping is set up correctly.
Within your Plaxo Toolbar for Outlook and Outlook Express, click on the Plaxo icon, then select "Synchronization Manager." Ensure that you're linking only the Outlook folders you want to show up in Plaxo Online, and check that they're linking to the right place /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

2) Delete folders as appropriate in Plaxo Online.
Sign in to Plaxo Online at http://www.plaxo.com/signin. Click on "Manage Folders." Click the red 'x' next to any folder you'd like to delete.

That should do the trick!

Glad to hear your working on this. I was going to request the same feature. We mainly use thunderbird at my company and there is no way to manage mulitple folders currently. Thanks for a great product by the way, I just found plaxo the other day and most of our sales staff has already joined up.
