Activity Alert Flash on OE toolbar

When I first downloaded Plaxo, an alert would flash on my Plaxo toolbar in my Outlook Express when there was any activity in my account. Since I downloaded an "updated" version, I have not seen that alert flash, even though there has been activity. Does anyone know what happened to it and if I can bring it back? Thank you very much.
