View Full Version : Recurring appointments in Outlook

August 5th, 2005, 06:23 PM
I have a number of recurring monthly appointments that frequently have variations in scheduling. I find it more convenient to set these up in Outlook as a appointment series, and then modify the dates when required. However, I find that Plaxo does not store these modifications online, so when I attempted to sync with my laptop, all the modifications were lost. I recommend that Plaxo's online folders be able to recognize and store modifications to single occurences in an Outlook appointment series.

Hi RJK and welcome to the Plaxo Forum.

We're aware of this issue and are working to solve it.

Any progress on this issue since August?

Sorry, this is still something that remains unresolved at this time. We know it is a problem for some people, but other things have taken a higher priority to date. I'll ping the bug report for engineering to review again. <9057>.

I'm becoming a little concerned here.

The response here in the forums is great, but support doesn't respond at all.

And every bug is slipping due to new development - this one in particular is now sitting inactive for at least three months.

I see that a lot here, but I don't see any where you announce a resolution.

Is there a BugZilla or BugTraction list where folks can weigh in and Plaxo can see the volume of users affected by documented bugs?

We use a bug tracking system internally, but we do not have anything externally available. We generally monitor the forums, support queues, as well as our internal QA processes to track feedback and bug reports.

While I am obvioiusly biased, I believe your assessment may be inaccurate. I think you would agree that bugs will exist. Each bug confirmed is priortized based upon a number of factors and each release includes a number of bug fixes, but unfortunately, it is not practical to assume that each release will fix all previously discovered bugs.

In this case, I can only assume this reported bug has simply not been priortized to the point where it has been scheduled for a release. There could be other technical challenges as well. With limited development resources, we must make sure to focus on the most important things. Yet even within the last 3 months, a number of bug fixes and features have been released as part of our normal server releases.

As for our support, I'm confident you will be hearing back from them shortly. Please note that our Support team's first priority is towards those Plaxo members who have purchased Plaxo VIP Support. Plaxo VIP Support provides members escalated support and phone support and generally some type of response within 6 hours. But at the same time, our support team does try to answer each question we receive in a timely and accurate manner regardless of the member's status.

In addition, these user forums were intended for users helping users, but as I'm sure you've noticed, there are a number of engineers as well as myself that try to jump in and answer questions. But I'm sorry if our support has not measured up to your expections.

I just wanted to chime in on this issue. As a new user today I ran into this issue imeadiately. This is something I'm sure many people will find to be a problem. Please keep it on the items to fix list.

From what I can tell...this has been an issue for at least a year. And is still not addressed. Since I have a lot of exceptions to recurring appointments I almost can't use PLAXO anymore, since I never know if the calendar is accurate or not. I hope this can be fixed in the very near future.

Hi,

I will join the crowd that requests a fix. I stumbled on this one within hours of my first atempt to sync. This is not acceptable... Please fix this

I just want to join everone and say that this is very important fix. I frequently make updates in my calendar and I just recently started to wonder why the changes did not show.

Hope Plaxo will set this as a high priority bugfix.

Regards
Hans

I downloaded the latest version yesterday (2.9.0.38) and now things are working fine. All changes are updated in the calendar.

However I also changed to use the same version of Outlook on my home and work PC. I dont know if that had anything do to with it aswell.

Regards
Hans

I am new to Plaxo - just signed up and as a "pro" or VIP user... but I would concur re: Recurring Appointments in Outlook. The first thing I noticed was Plaxo showed a recurring appointment (that had been moved one week) as not having been moved at all.

Looks like this has been on a bug fix list for a LONG time. If it doesn't come off, I'll probably cancel my subscription when the free period expires.

Everything else looks great, but this would be a showstopper for me.

Guys, you need to fix the failing sync of recurring events NOW! I was close to being sued (!) for missing a changed appointment.

I sync between two PCs, and recurring events set up on one, then changed on the other do not reflect back to the original one.

A resolution of this issue - which has been around for years now - is necessary for my continued use of Plaxo. I've been with you for over 4 years now, but this pisses me off!!!
