View Full Version : MAJOR issue that remains un-solved...

Once again, I have read a post about downloading and installing the Plaxo Toolbar and it NOT SHOWING UP in Outlook. This happened to me several months ago and, although the support team at Plaxo worked with me, my issue was never resolved. I have seen similar posts here on this forum several times and each and every time, the same results....NOTHING.

I cannot use Plaxo any longer. I read these forums on a regular basis HOPING that someone figures this out so that I can go back to using this very useful tool.

YES - I have tried EVERYTHING everyone has suggested. Re-installs, checking in the bowels of Outlook 2003.....EVERYTHING. Simply put, it installs perfectly on Outlook Express and not in Outlook. I cannot uninstall Outlook Express because it's a company computer and I am not permitted. I open Outlook Express and there is Plaxo!! I open Outlook....nothing.

Why does this program not give you a CHOICE?!?!?! It's so frustrating and there is not a product I can find that will keep my Outlook address books for home and work synchronized. PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU FIND ONE!!!

Frustrated former Plaxo user.

Problems relating to the Plaxo Toolbar not showing up in Outlook (yet it shows just fine in OE) typically fall in 2 categories. First, you may have a block key (found in the Outlook profile section of Plaxo's registry entry) that's preventing the Toolbar from appearing. This is the same as the "Disable Plaxo" icon, but without the "Enable Plaxo" icon to reverse the effect. The only way to get around it is by removing the "block" key entry from the registry OR completely uninstall/reinstall Plaxo.

The second culprit is typically another add-on that stomps on Plaxo's real estate - We've seen this in systems where Microsoft's Business Contact Manager is installed. There could be other add-ons that do this, but BCM has been consistently the reason.

The best way to get this resolved is to have one of Plaxo's escalation technicians to help you out. You can contact Plaxo's Customer Care, request for escalated support using remote assist. They can remotely view your computer and diagnose/fix the problem within minutes. In cases like this, where there could be a variety of reasons why the Toolbar is being prevented from showing up, remote assist is the clear cut choice to fix the problem.
