Sorry to be on the want all the time.../images/graemlins/wink.gif
There is a calendar extension being developed for Thunderbird. Are there any plans to extend the Plaxo toolbar for Thunderbird to synchronise the calendar once it is available?

Hi JohnR,
We're aware of it. It's a toss-up between working with that, or working with Sunbird (the calendar open source app)
Thanks for the suggestion.

Adam, a possible option/suggestion. Take a look at iCal exchange (http://www.icalx.com/). It's a free site that allows people to download and deploy their iCal's straight over the web. I believe all iCal clients allow this functionality (SunBird, Cal, Entourage, etc.).
You could literally address the entire iCal community by simply setting up your own server that allowed people to store their calendars w/ Plaxo (because most users use multiple calendars with iCal...that's the beauty of it). When the new calender is loaded onto the server, you could do a server side sync between the file and the plaxo account and then you've added an entire community of users that can use Plaxo for their calendar as well.
Additionally, if you didn't want to store files all over the server you could easily use apache url rewriting to build the files on the fly.
Ex - My client tries to download from ical.plaxo.com/mycalendar/calendar_file.ics
Apache rewriting could translate that mycalendar as my username, calendar_file.ics as the calendar the I'm looking for, and then the server could generate the file from the database and send it to the client. The client never knows the difference and neither does the user but you are saved the trouble of file storage.
At the same time, that would require more processing power on the server so you'd probably be better off just storing the files.
Just an option that I wanted to make sure ya'll were aware of. I use Sunbird and iCal Exchange right now and the only reason that I use iCal exchange right now is because Plaxo isn't setup to operate the same way. Until you do it, I can't sync my iCals with Outlook though.

For a good example of a web-based calendaring app that is sorta there, take a look at www.airset.com. (http://www.airset.com.) They support ical - both for syncing with Sunbird and for linking to other public ical calendars. My problem is that after using it for a while, I don't even care any more if it syncs with my desktop - easier to leave it where it is.
Now, if only I could sync all this stuff simply with my Treo . . . Mozilla sync still doesn't work . .

Thanks for the Airset tip, I've tried it and like bits of it. However, in my search I found MyOffice2Go.com - this offers a wider service and now allows me to Sync my work laptop, home mac, home winxp machine and my P910i phone. It also gives push email and regular sync to the phone, a la blackberry. I use Plaxo to sync work and home pc's, then MyOffice2Go picks up from the home PC and syncs with it's server, which auto syncs with the phone. Only catch is I have to put the phone near the mac for it to do an iSync sync when I get home, but that works fine too. The service costs, but only around €40 pa, so it's well worth it and gives online file storage too. Hope this helps, Rob

I really think Plaxo should provide support for the future release of Sunbird, but what about GMail support? I have only seen Yahoo! support. Plaxo should think about the good Gmail.

Since Sunbird and the various Mozilla Calendars are based around the same source code, it shouldn't be too hard to make it compatible across the board.
If Plaxo could offer a cross-platform calendar sync and calendar publishing/sharing, it would be probably the best sync system I've used to date...

I'm trying to sync my Sunbird with my Sony Ericsson P910i buit in calendar. Would you guys be so kind to advise me how to combine thos two PIMs?

Hi,
I use Lotus Organizer as my desktop PIM. (Don't laugh, I like it.) I know that there isn't a direct sync procedure, but I could happily export the ORG data and import it into Plaxo. This can be done via an MS Outlook calendar CSV file, but as I don't have MS Outlook, I don't know what the file format is. Does anyone have an example file that I could have?
Anything with a header and a sample row so that I can see what date / time / boolean formats it uses would be great.
Many thanks,
Martin
