Newbie question

Hi,

I have just started using plaxo and have a question re the sync'ing (the answer to which I cannot find in the faq).

Anyway I have a load of personal and work contacts in my outlook contacts folder. I only want to sync my personal contacts to Plaxo and not my work ones. I cannot separate them out to different folders as I need them to sync to my PPC.

Is this possible?

Yes, this can be done. Basically for each work contact, if you open it up you should see a view sync details link. If you click on this, a window will pop up with a checkbox at the top - uncheck the checkbox for those contacts you don't want to have synced.

Another way is easier, but requires some care. You might want to make a copy of all your contacts first. Then, go to Plaxo, Preferences and click Reset Dialogs. Then go to Plaxo Online and delete your work contacts. Then go back to Outlook/OE and press the sync button (or Plaxo, Sync Now). When you get the prompt about deleting contacts, choose NOT to delete them. They will exist in your Outlook but they won't be synchronized with Plaxo.
