View Full Version : Failed to get Client ID from Server

Hi there,

I installed the TB Extension on my PC at home and everything works fine. Today I tried the same thing on my company PC, unfortuntately I cannot sync my addresses here. Is there proxy support already in this beta version? I have installed the Plaxo Toolbar for Outlook on the same computer and this one is working fine.

Details:

After the installation of the extension (TB 1.06, Plaxo Toolbar for TB 1.62) the first time sync starts. The windows says "Creating GUID ...", after a few seconds this window disappears without error or further messages. This is the logfile which was created:

[PLX Tuesday, September 27, 2005 14:45:27] ***** main - gInstallState:0
[PLX Tuesday, September 27, 2005 14:45:27] ***** main - install state 0

[PLX Tuesday, September 27, 2005 14:45:29] ERROR http.main - progress cancelled.
[PLX Tuesday, September 27, 2005 14:45:29] ERROR main - Failed to get Client ID from Server.
Communication error. Stopping.
[PLX Tuesday, September 27, 2005 14:45:29] ***** main - - HandleCommand - plxsync: 2378 ms.

Any idea?

Thanks,
Juergen

Hit the same problem, you need to set the proxy in TB (under Tools -> Options -> Advanced) and then everything works fine.

Hi Matt,

thanks for the hint, but unfortunately it didn't help. I think my proxy settings in Thunderbird are correct (same as in Firefox or IE), as I'm able to use the automatic update function from thunderbird, or to download pictures from internet in a HTML-email.

So the error still remains, any other idea?

Thanks,
Jurgen

Hi Juergen,

I experienced the same problem with TB 1.07 and Plaxo 1.62. It seems like TB falls back to "offline" mode upon installation of Plaxo... just go "online" and you can sync like hell :-) .
