Folks at Plaxo. A status update would be really cool. A "we'll post it when it's here" reply would be somewhat (un)cool.

The silence is deafening....

I have the feeling that the folks at Plaxo are very busy doing other (most certainly very important) things than the toolbar for TB. But it would help if somebody would show that tey are still alive...

I realize the silence can be deafening, and apologize for any frustrations it may cause. But we have taken the communications policy of only talking about things after they have been released.

We've seen too many companies overpromise things, whether they be features, release dates, or other public statements. These only serve to mis-set the expectations of users and in many examples, lead to disappointment. It's our good intentions to always try to underpromise and overdeliver. While I understand this in itself can also be disappointing, ultimately we feel it is something that has served us and our members well, and hopefully people understand this point of view. But we do listen to the feedback people provide and incorporate this into future plans and releases.

It is our intention to continue to expand Plaxo as a platform that popular applications, services, and devices can plug into. We are very excited about our announced integration into the next release of AIM which is currently available in beta and we are committed to the other applications, services, and devices we already support (Outlook, Outlook Express, TBird, Internet Explorer, Yahoo!, web, and wireless).

PlaxoPrivacyGuy:,

<rant>
As a Design company owner, I understand the underpromise and over deliver concept. I stick to that policy myself. However, in a sense, the silence is a form of underdeliverance. I have an associate who is not so good at communicating with clients (good or bad news) and It becomes an issue in and on itself. We would rather know if a something will take a very long time (3 years or so) or has been halted, then to not know at all.(Saves us the time from checking in the forums and blog constantly). I know the biggest focus has been on the "Aim" service. But looking through your forum, I have not nearly seen a customer demand for the Aim service than I have with the thunderbird plaxo extension. Therefore shouldn't that be as much of a priority? I use thunderbird. Can't stand outlook or OE. I have a real use for this extension. I would be willing to use plaxo paid services when it is developed. I'm sure there are many others that feel the same way. Updates on status (good or bad) were never a bad thing. You have other things that are a priority. Fine. We can live with that. But I have never seen a instance where not communicating was good...

I wouldn't call that a <rant>, but perhaps <truth>. I'll see what we can do to be more communicative.

You are correct that our AOL integration is a major focus for Plaxo as a company, but there are a number of other initiatives and development projects that are simultaneously going on including improvements to the Tbird. Since the release of the initial Plaxo TBird beta, we've continued our work as evident by a number of other releases.

We do expect to fully support Tbird 1.5, but even since TBird 1.5 is currently in beta itself, it can be difficult to code to a moving target. But I do feel we have a very close working relationship with the Mozilla team, and there is motivation and incentive on both sides to have Plaxo fully supported on TBird 1.5 when it becomes available. But we can make no promises or set expectations at this time.
