View Full Version : Plaxo Address Book and Ecards
December 10th, 2005, 06:00 AM
I find it strange that I have a syncronized address book on plaxo that I cannot seem to use with the Artmata E-cards. The import feature seems to work for only Outlook (not Outlook Express) and the address book there only contains people that I have sent cards to in the past or those that i manually enter.
Am I missing something somewhere?
I wanted to send out Christmas cards using this service but without the access to my Plaxo Sync'd addresses I don't feel that I want to sit and enter (re-enter) all this information manually. /images/graemlins/frown.gif
Any ideas?

Plaxo recently introduced our new eCard service which is fully integrated into your Plaxo address book. Like the old service, Plaxo eCards provides free cards that you can send to contacts on special occasions, birthdays, etc... The service is also provided as a premium service which allows you to choose from any of the cards available through the eCard service.
You can check out the new eCard site at: http://ecards.plaxo.com

Forgot to mention that there is a 30 day trial provided for the Premium service. We recently sent out an announcement to Plaxo members introducing the new Plaxo eCard service... just in time for Chrismas. :-)

Hi Privacy Guy!
Is there a known limit on the number of recipients? I should clarify, a practical limit?
I got a little carried away on my first and kept checking off contacts until the ecard cried "Uncle". (Actually, it politely told me I had reached the limit).
However when I sent it, the "Choose Recipient" window just hung there saying "Please wait..." until I finally gave up after a few hours. (I had just left it trying while I did something else on my PC).
So is there a pratical limit for getting the cards sent? Or was this just an anomaly?
Thanks!
EDIT: As an addition, after posting this I tried sending an ecard to 25 family members and it is still saying "Please wait...". 14 minutes now...

Sending it to up to five recipients is working well! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
(These cards are really nice!)

None that I am are aware of. We process each selected recipient separately, so feasible you should be able to select everyone in your address book to send an ecard. Perhaps there is bug that we've failed to detect. I'll ask our QA department to verify, but it should be working for multiple recipients. It should not take more than a few seconds to process your instructions. If you continue to notice things taking longer to process when you select multiple recipients, you might want to try contacting Support directly for assistance.

Thanks, PrivacyGuy.
It certainly isn't a major concern, though. In the meantime I'll just keep the recipient count down. Better that way, actually - I really should cut it back and allow myself to customize the messages. A personal touch is always better!
The Ecards are really very, very nice, by the way. Much better than most other Ecards I've seen - even those found in purchased greeting card software. Great looking artwork, phenomenal colors. And the number of cards available, the variety, is way beyond what I expected. I started out thinking that this was just a little sideline product that someone in Plaxo decided to throw out there to make a little extra money, since so many Plaxo users are using the free services. Boy, was I ever wrong. Truly a superior product! Of course, by now I should have known better! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'll take your advice and submit it to Plaxo support. But hopefully, this will be a low priority item - I wouldn't want this given attention over other Plaxo functionality issues.
I have to mention, PrivacyGuy, that 'll be sending it to Premium Plaxo support, I might add...... (Ahem, ahem, PrivacyGuy! ...just in case you hadn't noticed. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif )
I finally purchased the Plaxo Premium Suite. Remember, I said I would once we could get those links in the Outlook My Plaxo to work? Well, I finally resolved it, and the first time the "Upgrade to Premium" link worked, I clicked on the "Buy Now" button immediately! I never did get any responses from support, though. But you can probably see from some of my more recent posts that I was constantly debugging it and getting close. /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks JMac!!! We appreciate you joining the premium subscription ranks.
As for this problem, there did appear to be an issue we recently identified that may have affected certain users. If the member had a large address book (<500 entries), using the "Add from AddressBook" feature and selecting say 20+ recipient, could have resulted in performance issues when clicking the "Add Recipients" button.
A fix has been implemented so you should not be seeing this problem any longer. If the problem remains, please contact our Support department.
