Stopping autosynch

Is there a way to stop plaxo from trying to synch my contact list?

It pops up so often that I had to uninstall the extension..

Surprising others haven't raised the same issue. Not only is it impossible to control times/days when it synchs, the action of updating grabs focus from whatever you are doing and prevents you from reading/writing emails, newsgroups etc. until complete.
Also, if the Internet connection is interrupted for whatever reason, autosynch will hold focus for a long time and then present you with dialog boxes to click. Surely it could try later?

Once a week should be fine for synching Contact lists for any average user.There's a need for control of this feature under 'Preferences' - has anyone fixed this problem?
