View Full Version : ecards "how to" info missing!

Been trying to send a New Year's card to my list of 2800 contacts all morning. There's tons of info that would have saved me hours: like how long can the message be? I carefully wrote a nice message to send to my list only to be told "it's too long, edit it". Did a search to find out how long it can be and that information is not given. Trial and error and the message has to be VERY short. OK, I can live with that. Could have saved an hour of time and much frustration to know that ahead of time.

On a Mac you cannot "load your addresses" to send the card. The window says "loading addresses" but it does not. Let it work for an hour and it would not load. Started the process a few times, shut off and restarted the computer, etc. But it would not load. Got an online chat guy, very nice, who told me I had to copy and paste the email addresses into the window. I asked how I did that from Plaxo, he was vague and done with me so I hung up. Still can't figure that one out. From Outlook, I can export any fields I want to an excel spreadsheet, copy and paste... But can't figure out how to do this from Plaxo or Thunderbird. Back to the card.

Went to my husband's pc and the addresses loaded quickly into the window. I checked them all, happy to be almost done with it - I'm re-writing the card each time I exit and re-enter the ecard area mind you. I click send, wait a few seconds for the confirmation and voila! I'm told that the system can only send 300 cards at a time. Knowing that would have saved me the day.

If anyone knows how I can export just my email addresses from Plaxo or Thunderbird to a text file, that would be lovely. Otherwise, I'll go to my husband's pc, open a new user in his Outlook, download my Plaxo contacts to that and export just the email addresses to that. At that point, I won't use ecard, I'll load the addresses into Constant Contact and send them all that way rather than send 300 at a time from ecards.

Thanks- happy new year! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just read thru the other posts on the ecard issues and see that Plaxo knows about some of this already.... Could you add these limitations to the "how to" or FAQs page re ecards? Save the next person much frustration and time. THANKS!!!
