I really like your ecards. I would like to be able to send hanukah cards to my jewish clients . Is there a way to use the catagories in outlook to only send cards to a particular group.
Thanks
Rick

Categories support for selecting contacts is currently not supported but I'll pass your suggestion on to our development team. It's a great idea; and perhaps something they have already considered, but were unable to implement at this time.
Thanks,

yeah, that's a great feature to get up. I'm already a little concerned that i can't put credit card numbers, and other things in my contacts any more, until i really understand plaxo a bit better, so i'm thinking about how to use outlook two ways:
intimate, in that everything i care about is there, and
protected, in that i'm opening my really important and private stuff up to an online, [great, but online], service. I think this topic also gets bigger than catagories as a discussion. How about some tutorials on how users should set up systems to protect info, and what's actually dangerous and what's not?

Excellent point, sopan.
What I have done is to set up another Contacts folder in Outlook, copied all of my contacts there - with all the warts and pimples, and then I "scrubbed" the original Contacts folder of any and all info that I do NOT want others to see.
Then I made sure in the Synchronization Manager to only have the original folder sync with Plaxo.
Of course this causes double entry of all new contacts, but that seems to be the only way to do it for now.

It's some two years since I've last used Plaxo and stopped by to see if certain features - or rather lack of them - that caused me to stop using Plaxo had been implemented.
I'm quite sorry to see that this issue (Outlook categories, that is) is still not in the pipeline. I think it was spring or summer '04 when it was said to have been added to the fields that is in fact synchronized but not yet supported. I.e. users can't see it.
I find it very troubling that Plaxo is also still not working fluently with addresses, names, etc as they are in Outlook - which is the de facto industrial standard of PIM.
Not looking good, guys. I'd really be quite happy to get the premium account IF it supports over 1000 contacts more smoothly as advertised. But if/since the system can't even handle basic information field mapping I'm not at all that sure that Plaxo can be a serious tool. It gives nice plan C backup and an access to most of the information online. But a serious tool is more.
Some other post (by Bryan/Brian) mentioned that next 'big' release will handle names and other internationalization things better. Any chance to get some info on that: will it possibly be out this fall? Or should I just look for something else?
Please note that the tone of this is purely constructive. Plaxo has a good base, but it leaks a little (.. critically) if it doesn't handle basic information.
