I am running into a situation whereby a handful of random vCards from my Mac Address Book fail to import into Plaxo. For example, I exported into a .vcf file 40 contacts from my address book, then imported that .vcf file into one of my Plaxo folders; 38 of the 40 contacts imported successfully, two didn't. When I try to import either, or both, of the two cards that didn't, they generate an error message ("failed to import"). I cannot see anything peculiar about either card that should prevent them from importing. Any light you can shed?

I'm not quite sure of the actions you are taking to sync your address book using vCards. vCard import used to be the main way that Mac users could import their contacts into their Plaxo Address Book. The vCard import feature from a Mac browser has had less than stellar performance (at least as of late) and a different solution is needed.
With the introduction of Plaxo for Mac 1.0 today, vCard import is no longer the designated method for tranferring contacts between Plaxo and your Apple Address Book. With Plaxo for Mac installed and setup with you Plaxo account name and password, your Address Book will be kept in synch with your Plaxo Universal Address Book without you having to take any direct action - our sych software runs silently in the background while you use your Mac.
There are some controls and options available in Plaxo for Mac if you want to take an active approach to managing sych between Plaxo and your AB, but the default settings are meant to relieve you of this concern by managing synch automatically.
Check out the software today if you haven't already downloaded it:
