i've been a plaxo user for sometime and love it. i'm split between PCs (my work makes me) and my mac so i was delighted when a mac version came out. loads of problems though.

i downloaded all my plaxo contacts to my mac (to an empty address book). now when I tried to edit anything on my mac it just gets overwritten with what's on the plaxo server.

then today i look at my address book and 90% of the contacts are duplicated.

HELP!!!!

Could you let us know if you have .Mac sync for Address Book or Exchange Sync enabled in the Address Book preferences (in the General tab of the preferences)?

Also, are you actively synching with your Outlook/Plaxo setup as well or are you only on a Mac at this point?

How large is your address book? (we do have a limit, as you may have read on another thread in this forum section)

Hi, i turned .Mac off before I downloaded Plaxo as I didn't want it to interfere.

What i did was then register my mac to the same plaxo account that i've been using with my work pc for a couple of years so it downloaded all of the addresses.

I've got around 1100 unique addresses but it keeps on duplicating them so i've got total over 2200.

It doesn't seem to register any changes I do on my mac to the server account so when I delete any of the duplicates and then sync, it just replaces whatever i deleted.

I'd really like to see you Plaxo log files to see if they might reveal what is going wrong on your system. If you'd like to send one, it would be most helpful to try to replicate the problem you're having right before sending me your logs. Add, change or delete a contact on your Mac, select 'Sync Now' from a Plaxo menu then after waiting a minute or two select 'Sync Now' again from one of the Plaxo menus.

I've been doing further testing myself between my Mac/Address Book, Plaxo Online and my Windows/Outlook setup and have had no problem having updates originate in any one of the three locations and successfully propagating to the other two destinations.

There is some possibility that your Address Book data repository is corrupted. It's condition could have been influenced when you set up Address Book for your first Plaxo sync. (You had mentioned that you did a sync with Plaxo with an empty Apple Address Book) Was your Address Book already empty, or did you just delete every entry in the Address Book, or delete the Address Book folder within the Application Support folder - where all your contact data is actually stored?

It might be helpful for you to write into our support group at support@plaxo.com to see if they can do a remote session with you to see if there is another component to this problem that we're missing.
