I've been using the Thunderbird Plaxo plugin for a while now and like it a lot.
But - I recently installed Plaxo for Mac on my Mac - and noticed shortly thereafter that all my Thunderbird address book entries had no email addresses in them. Which made them kind of useless in Thunderbird :-)
Any suggestions?

Could you let us know if your email addresses are still on your Mac and/or Plaxo Online? I assume they are gone there as well, but I just wanted to know for sure.

Yes, the emails are gone from my Plaxo contacts. I still see them in my Mac Address Book but I might have synced that with my Palm since this happened.
I've since turned off all the syncing - if I lose the emails from my Palm, I'm in big trouble.

What labels do you have on your email entries? Plaxo for Mac synch's a specific set of labels. If your Palm sync somehow modified these labels, that could account for why they've gone missing from your Plaxo and Tbird ABs.

On my Palm the label is usually "E-mail". Some entries have multiple emails with that label.

Sorry. I wasn't specific with my question. What are the labels assigned to your email entries in Apple's Address Book.
Plaxo will sync emails with the following labels:
home
home 2
home 3
work
work 2
work 3
Capitalization counts here, too.
(btw, we have a another post in this forum that describes all the fields/labels that Plaxo for Mac syncs if people are interested in checking it out - http://forum.plaxo.com/showthread.php?t=2034)
If your email labels in Apple's Address Book do not correspond to any of these six options, then no emails will be synched with Plaxo.
I'll repeat a restriction here that I've posted in the linked forum; from the list of six labels that Plaxo syncs above, there can be only one entry for each of the listed labels otherwise you will likely experience data loss.

Yikes! I'd better not use it then.
This surprises me though. I'd think Plaxo's number one concern would be not destroying our data. This is a condition the plugin could detect, but it goes ahead anyway. Why?

Firstly, your data integrity and protection is extremely important to us.
In Plaxo for Mac, we actually do have a check in place to see if there are conflicting contact field labels in your Address Book as you peruse your contacts. Unfortunately, there is a bug in the released version of Plaxo for Mac where this check is only done for contacts in your Address Book who are also Plaxo members. We've since fixed the problem so that all contacts will be checked now as you navigate through your Apple Address Book. The fix will be included in the next release of Plaxo for Mac.
We are looking at options on automating this process to be more proactive in alerting Plaxo for Mac user's to the potential problem but don't have a final solution in place as of yet.
In the meantime, while there are guildelines to follow to successfully sync your Apple Address Book with Plaxo Online, you do have some measure of protection over losing contact info through the use of our Change History feature. If you are ever concerned about some contact data disappearing, just refer to your contact's Change History to see any modifications made to that contact's info (additions, changes and deletions).

There's no change history on the contacts whose email addresses were lost.

If you can privately send me the PlaxoAssistant.log file in your ~/Library/Logs/Plaxo/ folder. (you can also find it easily with Spotlight) as well as your Plaxo account sign-in info, I'd be happy to investigate further what might have happened to your email addresses.

No such file. I uninstalled Plaxo for Mac a while back; I guess it was too diligent in cleaning up after itself.

Yep, uninstalling gets rid of everything related to Plaxo for Mac including the log files.
For others in the forum reading this, if you are encountering sync issues with Plaxo for Mac, rather than uninstall the software just change the sync preferenece to the Manual sync option. In Manual sync mode, Plaxo for Mac will not alter your address book at all unless you select the Sync Now command. By doing this, we will have some ability to help troubleshoot your issue.
The log file is one of our best tools to help determine how Plaxo for Mac is performing.
