Contacts who update their info for me, have their birthday recorded as xx-xx-2006 in Outlook, because Plaxo doesn't ask for the year of birth. Can this be changed so that everybody is not a few months old this year?
Thanks.

i discovered today that birthdays (or any recurring event) that started before 1936 don't sync properly. Plaxo's date range ends at 1936 and will change any year entered before then to the next century. My grandfather's birthday is in 1935, plaxo changes the year to 2035. just thought i'd share that.

Journeyman, yes, if you receive a birthday for a Plaxo member with no birthday, it will use the current year. There is no way to change this by default, as Outlook will not let you set a "0" year or no year.
gmason, the issue you describe is interesting - what steps were you performing when you saw this?
I tried creating a birthday in Outlook starting in 1935, synced it to Plaxo Online, then synced it down to a different Outlook profile and it seemed to work ok - it still started in 1935 after it came back down to Outlook. However, it's possible there is a bug in there somewhere, especially for more complicated syncing scenarios, so any extra information you can provide would be greatly appareciated.
In general, Plaxo should not spontaneously change the year for the birthday and should be able to sync recurring events starting pre-1936 correctly.

1. Syncing doesn’t work with the years. If I put a year in Outlook then it doesn’t change on plaxo online and vice versa.
2. you really need to sort out the issue of years of birth in one’s plaxo card. I understand the regulations thingy, but a solution needs to be found that works. I am very irritated that all the ages of my friends have been lost  and have over the past year started to rebuild it in another external application on my Palm. This is silly. :o

Can I suggest plaxo add the year in the system but use a privicy feature that will default the year the the current year upon syncing... might kill two birds with one stone... maybe thanks ....

Just to clarify a couple things - if you change the year for a birthday in a contact in Outlook, it should absolutely change in Plaxo Online once synced. Let us know if that is not working for you, but in general that should work fine.
Also, Plaxo should not be erasing any years from Outlook. Now if one of your contacts is a Plaxo member and the birthday that the member entered for themselves has a different month or day than what is in your contact, then the birthday will be changed in Outlook, but it seems that generally shouldn't happen if the information was correct to start with.
