Direct mobile synchronization (i.e. NOT through Outlook or my computer) would make Plaxo Premium a killer app for me and I would sign up today.
The ability to search for a contact from my mobile is OK but not worth the price. I can do that today for free with Google or Yahoo or probably any number of other online address books. Furthermore, accessing Plaxo to search for a contact at each phone call would use up more of my phone's data account balance than a weekly on-demand sync would, and would likely be more demanding on Plaxo's servers. Plus, who knows if those calls via Plaxo show up on my phone's call log?
Search is too cumbersome to be a primary navigational tool, especially on a small, portable device like a phone. To call someone via Plaxo I would need to:
Open mobile browser -> Go to Plaxo site -> Search for the name -> Dial
...that is way too cumbersome to rely on as my main mobile address book. I would prefer that Plaxo dump my contacts and calendar into my phone's native apps so I can access them without having to access the web. I can't imagine the technology would be very difficult to implement.
Direct mobile synchronization that syncs up my phone's address book and calendar with my Plaxo account would get my Mac, my phone, and my Plaxo all singing the same tune. I would be in geek heaven! :D
So, Plaxo, I'm waiting here with credit card in hand for Plaxo Premium SynchMobile. Just give me the nod and I'm there.
