Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I did search the forum.

I installed Plaxo yesterday but now all of my Outlook calendar item reminders are duplicated. The calendar items themselves are not duplicated. I asked the Plaxo Outlook software to remove Birthday Duplicates but that has had no effect. Any ideas how I can get this to stop? It's rather annoying.

Well I'm not sure how the reminders would have gotten duplicated without the actual items being duplicated. Each reminder comes from an Outlook item, and I don't think there can be two reminders for one Outlook item. You could try "Open Item" from the reminder for each one and see what happens.

Could it be that you now have another Calendar folder in Outlook with another set of these items? (This could happen if you have multiple machines syncing with the same Plaxo account).

Very good. There was a new calendar labelled Calendar (backup). However, I've only installed the software on one machine.

The exact same thing has happened with me.

Installed, pressed yes to the calendar and task option, ended up with two calendars. Only installed on one PC.

Plaxo, as this is twice recently perhaps a bug has appeared in a recent build? Does your software create a backup, store everything off site and then never clean up after itself?

Well, Plaxo does create a backup of certain folders when first installed. These are placed in a Plaxo Backup folder.

However, I'm not sure why reminders would be duplicating because of this. I tried creating an appointment in by Calendar (backup) folder, and Outlook tells me that there will be no reminder as the item is not in my calendar and tasks folder. (You might try testing that as well, just to see if it's a difference in Outlook settings).

Hi,

I have deleted the folder now so I can't. The reminders definatly came from it though because when I deleted the folder and went to clear the reminders (in that order) i got errors because the backup folder had been deleted.

I had the same problem. Run outlook with the /cleanreminders switch. This will rebuild the reminders and remove dupes.
