View Full Version : Syncing question with Exchange and non-Exchange on the same Outlook 2003

I have Outlook 2003 where I just added a new Exchange email account. As a result, I have a new mailbox, with corresponding Calendar and Contacts folders.

I want to sync my personal folders (and plaxo online, which is already in sync) to this newly added exchange folder.

First of all, is it possible to do it?

If so, I went to Advanced section of synchronization and noticed that it said there were a few entries waiting to be synchronized. Upon pressing the Sync button, I did not see anything updated in my Personal Folders calendar or Exchange contacts folder.

Any idea what could be incorrect in my steps?

As a security policy to protect corporate information, Plaxo's software ignores Microsoft Exchange Public Folders as well as all read-only, backup, and archive folders.

Thanks for the response.

I understand the rationale. But is my calendar a "public folder" - I doubt it. I think it is a folder within my mailbox "file" on Exchange.

hey life...

my bad.i didnt answer ur question completely...to sycn your new folders...go to your sync manager and map these folders against your plaxo online folders.once this is done...it will sync back to your personal folders in your outlook as well.

I think I have it set up correctly. For now, within the same Outlook 2003 client, I have two calendars, one having \\Personal Folder\Calendar (my non-exchange mailbox calendar in the .pst file) and \\Mailbox-XXX\Calendar (my Exchange calendar).

Both of these folders are mapped to my calendar on Plaxo. And on both the calendars it says x entries synchronized. But what I do not see is the entries on Exchange calendar coming in to my Personal Folders calendar. Is that even possible?

Secondly, none of my entries from personal folders show up on the calendar folder in Exchange. Which I think is desirable in my case, since I do not want to upload a whole bunch of my current calendar entries on the Exchange folder.

Hope this is clear, otherwise please let me know and I can be more specific.

Is there any way around this? I work at a small non-profit where we all use a shared, public exchange calendar. I'd like to be able to access this from home or on my iPhone using Plaxo. No corporate secrets here, just meeting schedules and the like.

I asked a PC tech guy about it and his only idea was to essentially recreate the public calendar on my desktop's Outlook calendar by inviting myself to every event in the public calendar. It seems this would work, but it sort of defeats the purpose of using Plaxo to do the work for you ;)

Thanks in advance to anyone with insight on this problem!
