We released Plaxo Mobile Plus yesterday!

Plaxo Mobile Plus brings the Plaxo Smart Address Book to the mobile phone.
http://www.plaxo.com/products/plaxo_mobileplus

Plaxo Mobile Plus backs up your phone address book to your Plaxo account, lets you choose which contacts to keep in sync with your phone, gives you access to all of your contacts which are in Plaxo but not in your phone address book, lets you call, sms, and email your contacts, gives you maps to the addresses in your Plaxo address book, and shows your contacts' photos if they have them in Plaxo.

Plaxo Mobile Plus is offered through wireless carriers. It is first available on select phones on Verizon Get It Now. Other phones and US carriers are coming. We have more work to do to bring it to our international members. You can check whether Plaxo Mobile Plus is available for your phone:

When are you going to support Sprint phones??????

Hi Sterlinginspections,

Thanks for your interest in Plaxo Mobile Plus on Sprint! We're working on the J2ME version of the application now. We've got a bit more development and then our testing and then carrier testing and acceptance. Schedule for J2ME looks like spring.

Sprint (and other carriers) also need to know their customers want it in order to make it available, so it would help to tell them too.

Best,

Kathy

Will there be support for SunCom phones?

Hi kcarlos2006,

Since I'm in CA, I don't know SunCom zipcodes to put in their locator service to see their full phone offering.

From what I see on their other pages, they offer LG, Moto, Blackberry, etc phones. Likely they are Java-enabled phones.

We will have a java offering. Once we do, we'll have to talk to SunCom about offering it to their customers.

Best,

Kathy

When will you support the T-Mobile service? Specifically their Samsung t509s (Plum), t519 (Trace), and t629?

I am DYING for a sync solution. I would buy your Mobile Plus service IMMEDIATELY if you offered it on these T-Mobile phones. The service (and your Premium service as well) are useless to me without this.

I like your service overall, but would thoroughly LOVE it if I could sync with my T-Mobile phone.

Thanks for your service! Keep up the good work!

When will you support T-Mobile? Specifically the Samsung t519 Trace?

I cannot justify the cost of any Plaxo premium service unless I can sync it with my phone. I would purchase your Mobile Plus service IMMEDIATELY if you offered syncing with T-Mobile.

Thanks for the great service!

Hi Scottspinola,

Thanks for letting us know of your interest with T Mobile and the Samsung T519 trace.

The features of a mobile app (whether viewer or sync to native address book) are dependent on whether the phone supports certain apis and whether the carrier allows that feature on their network. (ah, the joys of mobile development)

For T Mobile and the Samsung T519 trace, we have to get the J2ME app done and then work with T Mobile to get it available to their customers.

Thanks for the kudos to Plaxo.

Regards,

Kathy

When are you going to support Sprint phones??????

When are they going to support ANY phones? I tried my Sprint phone and it said:

Uh Oh!Plaxo Mobile Plus is not yet available for your phone.

I wanted to see what the price would be if they ever come out with an option for my phone, so I tried Cingular (Razr) and I got:

Uh Oh!Plaxo Mobile Plus is not yet available for your phone.

I tried four or five OTHER carriers/phones and I got:

Uh Oh!Plaxo Mobile Plus is not yet available for your phone.

Maybe it would be simpler to tell us what phones (if any) ARE supported. I'm sure there must be at least one carrier/model that's supported but ya think this release mighta been just a wee bit premature?

By the way, my Sprint phone is the Fusic. I'm very interested in this because I no longer use Outlook and Plaxo doesn't currently support Windows Live, which I now use. I think Plaxo is one of the greatest things to come along since the Internet but it's currently unavailable to me in any convenient form.

Has anyone come across a carrier/model that Plaxo Mobile DOES work on?

Hi Papa Spot,

Thanks for being interested in Plaxo Mobile Plus!

We first built Plaxo Mobile Plus for BREW and then have worked with various US BREW carriers to make it available. Currently, Verizon, Alltel, US Cellular, and Midwest Wireless are offering Plaxo Mobile Plus. Which phones are supported is a changing list since new phones are coming out, and we have to put them through our and the carrier testing processes. So, as much as we'd like to, it's not immediate after a phone is released to market that we can get Plaxo Mobile Plus tested and available on that new phone.

We are in progress on a J2ME version of Plaxo Mobile Plus. Once we complete it and check it on each phone model, then we talk to each carrier who supports the J2ME mobile platform (so carriers such as Sprint, Cingular, T-Mobile, ... and then onto non-US carriers, ...) So stay tuned for this.

I hear you that you'd like the list for finding what phones are supported reversed. Most people don't want to switch their phone, so we use the list showing all phones so that we can prioritize interest for phone testing.

Thanks for the kudos on Plaxo. We are working to bring Plaxo to more phones and online address books. I hope we connect on one that is convenient for you soon!

For T Mobile and the Samsung T519 trace, we have to get the J2ME app done and then work with T Mobile to get it available to their customers.

I was really hoping you would get this done. I have never wanted to give money to a company more than I want to give it to you for Mobile Plus. I'M DYING TO GIVE YOU MY MONEY HERE!!!

Sadly, I think I will need to start looking elsewhere for a mobile sync solution as it is clear that Plaxo support for T-Mobile will never happen.

So sad. :(

I have Verizon Wireless as my cellular service and my phone is the LG VX8100. I have tried to access the Plaxo Mobile Plus feature on my phone (Get It Now > Get Going > Get New App. > Business/Tools), but it is not listed under this category. These are the only items I see listed under the Business/Tools category: Wireless Sync Email, Backup Assistant, Vemail VoiceMail 2.0, Orative Client Software, Eatoni Mail, TimeCard, RemoMail, iphonebook, idatebook, MightyPhone, Remo, and Soda Pop Mail. Plaxo Mobile Plus is definitely not listed here. Is it listed under a different name, or is it listed in a different category, or is it something else? Do I need to be subscribed to Plaxo Premium to use the Plaxo Mobile Plus application? I would sincerely appreciate some assistance with this issue. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

Hi Quez45 -

This is the second time we've run into the app not found on an LG model - the first time was on the LG VX 5300 where LG released a new version of the software to support SSL. The box and the phone all look the same to the consumers, but inside the phone, the software is different and app developers need to retest on the phone. Unfortunately, they don't give us a heads up when they change that magic version number.

Several other LG VX8100 users have reported the same thing you are. Note that not all LG VX8100s have this problem. It appears that the software version that is not showing Plaxo Mobile Plus is

SW Version T81VZV07.

Here's how you find the version on your phone:

On your mobile phone go to:
- Menu -> Tools - Choose System Settings -> Device Info and then 'Other
Info'
- Select S/W Version

We're working with the BREW test team to get this version and phone verified with Plaxo Mobile Plus. I don't have an estimate, but it should just show up on your phone application catalogue.

We apologize for the delay.

I am on the 30 day trial of Plaxo Premium. I have a Samsung Sync (SGH-A707) and a Samsung Blackjack. My Carrier is Cingular.

The Samsung Blackjack appears on the list of supported phones but when I try to download the message states the phone is not supported. The Samsung Sync is not even listed.

I will not pay for Plaxo Premium until at least one of these phones is supported.

1) Is this a bug in the website? Why is the Blackjack listed but not available for download?

2) When will the Sync (SGH-A707) be supprted?

Hi SharpDog -

AT&T (formerly Cingular) has not yet released Plaxo Mobile Plus (J2ME version). Note that the carriers charge separately for Plaxo Mobile Plus. It is not a part of the premium fee. Plaxo Mobile Plus allows access or sync of contacts depending on the capabilities of the phone.

We list popular phones on the website so we can see where most interest is for phones/carriers that aren't yet supported as well as provide instruction for phones that are supported.

As an alternative, we also offer Plaxo Mobile which is a WAP app which gives you access to your contacts and calendar as well as other features. Plaxo Mobile is free to use.

Hi there,
I have a Verizon Wireless phone. Evidently when I "upgraded" I went from a phone that would have had Plaxo mobile plus (the E815) to a phone that does not, the LG ENv. Is it possible to find out if there are any plans to develop this for the LG ENv? I have called Verizon and they really don't know what I am talking about. (I have to say they have EXCELLENT customer service, but about this subject they are just flat lost. Sorry to say.) I've had great service from them or I would probably switch to someone with cooler phones, but um.. help????  I've had plaxo quite awhile actually and really like it. Now that I got forcibly upgraded to Comcast I am even a Premium Plaxo person lol. All verizon can tell me is that they have their own version of a contact back up phone thing.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I know about the WAP thing. I am really interested in getting my PHONE contacts synced with my ADDRESS book contacts since they are not truly the same and I have some people in one, and some in the other and it would be a pain to do it by hand.

Hi Clare,

Yeah, I wish Verizon Wireless would give their reps more information about the third-party apps on their phones.... I've had similar issues regarding other apps.

I don't have a date for the LG ENv yet. First we have to make sure that it can reliably support sync, and then we have to work with Verizon Wireless to get it on the phone.

WAP is the fallback for now. Or try Verizon Wireless Backup Assistant at least so you get a backup of your phone contacts... I believe it is free if you use their online bill pay/account management. I don't know if it offers export from the web... it would be clunky, but then perhaps you could import them. Not ideal I know.
