Hi,

i am new to plaxo and want to use the Update Contacts Wizard. I read somewhere, that it is possible to use STYLES, e.g. [Full Name] to use the Full Name in the eMail-Text and not only the first name.

Unfortunately i was not able to find out, HOW to use these Styles and what Styles are available. Can somebody help?

Best regards

Olaf

hello olaf,

To personalize your update request , please try the following :

You should first launch the Update Contacts Wizard by clicking on the "Update Contacts" button in the Plaxo Toolbar of Outlook and Outlook Express.

In Step 2 of the Update Contacts Wizard, you can customize the message that your contacts will receive:

1. In the "From:" line of the Update Request, you can select which one of your e-mail addresses you'd like the Update Request to display.
2. In the "Subject" line of the Update Request, you can change the subject of your Update Request message.
3. Change the salutation (i.e. "Dear," "Hi there," "Hey") and select the style of salutation by changing the default from [First Name] to other styles. For example, if you select the style [Full Name], the contact's Full Name will be displayed. The contact's Full Name consists of a concatenation of the following sub-fields:
Title (Mr., Mrs., Miss, etc.)
First Name
Middle Name
Last Name
Suffix (Sr., Jr., etc.)
4. Change the message of your Update Request. By clicking in the main message box, you can add your own message to let your contacts know what's going on in your life, why you're sending them an Update Request, and more. Our research has shown that personalized messages usually receive more responses. Once you've created a message, we save the message under your "Personalization History." You can view your saved messages by clicking on the link to "Use a saved message" on the left side of Step 2 in the Update Contacts Wizard

I hope that answers your question

So just to reemphasizes Kush's point, the "styles" you are refering to are limited to the salutations, and not the personalized message section of the message.

Hi plaxomachead,

thank you for the answer, but i found the same answer somewhere else in the internet before. My problem is point 3, because i dont find a possibility to change the salutation and attach a style. How could this be done? Do i write the salutation directly in the message or where else is it?

For your help thank you very much in advance.

Hi plaxomachead,

sorry, but on my screen there is no box for the salutation and there also is no drop down menu. I use MS Outlook 2002 Service Pack 3. Because i am a new member of plaxo, i should have the latest version of the plaxo Toolbar. Is there any possibility to send a screenshot to you?
