View Full Version : Will not sync with Outlook 2003

I am at my wits end! I have installed and reinstalled so many times. My contacts are in my online Plaxo address book and in my Outlook (2003) contacts AND main contacts yet neither set of contacts will link with Plaxo. I really use this in our ministry and the last time that I gave Plaxo staff the OK to remote access, my computer crashed so I'm afraid to go that route again. Any ideas? I really need the sync to work.

I am having a similiar problem, and have emailed customer support repeatedly. I've been a user for several years, and found Plaxo very convenient for synchronizing addressbooks in the office and at home with OE. I recently got a new hard drive in the office (running XP Pro), and now Plaxo isn't working at all anymore, nothing happens when I click anything on the Plaxo toolbar. Help:confused:

Supposedly our problem requires escalated attention. I received notification that our problem was being forwarded to another level of support. IF they manage to solve the problem, I will definitely post the solution for you. And please, if you find an answer, share it! I am so frustrated. The program is excellent but when it doesn't work, it is the pits!

A solution was found! Because I was restoring a reimaged drive, I found a previous install version, PlaxoInstallNT V 2.3.6.2. It now works perfectly. I have a hunch that the newer install version (the one on Plaxo's website) doesn't work with some of the newer security patches from Microsoft. That's an uneducated guess.

Great, you don't have a copy of the install that you can share do you? I still can't get my copy to work and it is so frustrating!

Has anyone at Plaxo figured out the problem and offered a solution? I too an unable to 'sync' in Outlook 2003.:confused:

FWIW, one of the two OL2007 machines I have (this one with Vista) stopped syncing in a similar way. Plaxo reports unable to contact OL and none of the buttons do anything.
It was working (with the latest Vista/OL2007 build), so I suspect maybe OneCare but turning that off doesn't seem to help. I wish the "unable to contact" gave a little more info.
Again, in my case at least I'll bet it is not a Plaxo issue per se, just gets in the way of using Plaxo!
If anyone has a situation like that and finds out what to do it'd be great to hear.--David

Check your XP updates - ALL of them, not just the high priority. I did that and it miraculously began to work. I have my system set to automatically accept the high priority but evidently Plaxo needs more than just those. Hope this helps!
