I have recently tested your Address Book Access Widget to see if it might work for our company. I tried uploading my address lists using your "simple example" however the widget seems to only allow me to access my Plaxo address book - yes, I use Plaxo! In fact, it automatically logs me into my Plaxo address list, when I log out and select Hotmail, for example, and select the next button, it automatically logs me back into my Plaxo address book. It does not seem to allow me to log into any other mail client. I am using Firefox v2.0.0.2. Is this a browser isssue? User error?

Hi Mercury,

>>I am using Firefox v2.0.0.2. Is this a browser isssue? User error?

Hmm. At first I missed that you had hit the sign-out.

I've tried it on IE7 and on Firefox 2.0.0.1 , and after sign-out, I get the correct "single" address book. (though as a Plaxo member, I have to do something to make some of them "different" enough looking so I can tell). So, maybe it is a new problem with Firefox.

I'm downloading Firefox update now... I have 2.0.0.2 installed.

Definitely working for me. (my gmail address book is empty - was easy to tell. I also tried with Hotmail and Yahoo and worked for me.)

So now the question is, why isn't it working for you? I suppose you could sign-out and then clear cache, just in case there is some cruft. Otherwise, I'm not sure what is happening for you. If it's still a problem after clearing cache, let me know and I'll file a bug.

Kathy,

Thanks for your reply. I cleared my cache. In a round about way it appears to work now. Now, when I go to the widget for the first time it shows me the list of email clients, I select Hotmail, and it automatically logs me into my Plaxo account. I log out, reselect Hotmail, and it allows me to log into Hotmail. I can log out and then log into any other mail client just fine.

Plaxo may have designed it this way on purpose, but it seems more logical and helpful to load my Plaxo contacts only when I select the Plaxo mail client option.

Hi Mercury -

Even after talking to the engineer, we're not at all sure what you are seeing. :-) Sounds like an odd cookie state. We'd have to try to reproduce it here. Are you using another of the Plaxo toolbars?

Basically, if you are logged into Plaxo (in some way), the widget gets that and shows your Plaxo account - but it shouldn't be showing you the choice of buttons if it has determined that you are already logged in.

So mystery not solved. Question is: do you want us to look more closely at your account?

Kathy,

Thanks again for your reply. The widget works perfectly with IE7 on all of my computers. I am still having the same problem with Firefox and I have tested it on 3 computers. Basically, I click on "Add From My Address Book", the widget loads with all mail clients listed. I select Hotmail and it automatically loads my Plaxo address book. I log out, presented again with the list of email clients, and select Hotmail, it takes me to the page Hotmail log in, and I can access my Hotmail addresses. I am not using any Plaxo toolbars. I havce cleared cookies and cache. Additionally, I had our company's programmer set up a test version for our site and I ran into the same issues. Our development team all use Mac's and don't have any problems with the widget on Safari or Firefox. They also do not use Plaxo. What additional information can I provide to help solve this issue? Do you have any problem solving suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Mercury -

Thanks for the additional details. I'll send those to our QA department to see if they can reproduce it.
