View Full Version : Multiple Calendars

I have 6 different outlook calendars that I would like to sync to my wm6 pocket pc and OS X iCal.

I can sync the individual calendars perfectly between Outlook and iCal using Plaxo but the crappy Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) will ONLY sync the calendar called 'Calendar' from Outlook to my PPC.

I see that there are a few 3rd party apps (On-Schedule etc) that work with wm5 to sync multiple Outlook calendars but I cant find any for wm6.

Is there any way to do this with Plaxo?

I have a licence for The Mising Sync for OS X which syncs iCal calendars (using the 'catagory' field in PPC PIM to separate calendars) but this only works with wm5.

I find wm6 so much better than wm5 that I just *cant* go back! Even if it means using Outlook. (uggghhh).

I could just catagorise my calendars in within the single 'Calendar' in Outlook, sync to PPC using WMCD and iCal using Plaxo, but then all events are in a single iCal calendar and I cannot catagorise. I mainly use iCal, Address Book and the PPC to add events/contacts so Outlook is only really in the loop to sync my PPC.

Sorry for the long post buy surely someone must have this problem??

Ideas??

Cheers! :)

I'm having a similar problem. Only that I don't like having that many outlook calendars.
Wouldn't it be possible to tell Outlook (and Yahoo as well) that single .ics calendars are to be translated into categories and vice versa?
That way an appointment added as category "personal" in Outlook or Yahoo would end up in the "personal" ical calendar in OSX.

That sounds spot on.

Outlook is useless at handling multiple calendars and it looks like I'll have to shell out £50, (yes, £50), on Pocket Mirror in order to sync Multiple Calendars to my PPC.

'The Missing Sync' for OS X uses the Category field in WM5/6 to correlate to each iCal calendar.

That would seem a very obvious option for Plaxo to use the same model.

I agree that this would be a fantastic feature. I suppose we should make a formal suggestion to implement this into Plaxo. In the past I used to use RemoteCalendars (http://remotecalendars.sourceforge.net/) to sync Outlook with separate .ical calendars. It worked well. It also worked using the method you suggested - it categorized the calendars so that all would be viewable in Outlook in a single calendar. Plaxo could do this automatically.

When using RemoteCalendars I also realized that I could add a "rule" to Outlook to automatically apply a label to a specific category. While I could care less what the label was, doing this made it possible to add a color to a specific category, since you could give each label a color. This was a round-about way of doing things, but it worked, and it's not possible to directly add a color to a category, hence the use of labels. If Plaxo could do this automatically as well (automatically apply the color used in Plaxo, which for me is the color of my Google Calendar), that would also be great! Keep up the good work!
