View Full Version : Live/Hotmail Syncing Broken?

I've yet to get the Hotmail sync working. Has anyone else gotten this to work yet? I really like the new UI, but I'd love to get Hotmail and GMail syncing.

I was able to get the sync itself to technically "work". However, due to the fact that Live Hotmail and Live Messenger maintain a unified list (messenger contacts are dropped into the address book along normal entries) some of my data got jumbled up. Basically the messenger contacts in my Live Hotmail address book (which are just e-mail address w/ no names or other data) got combined with entries in my plaxo account which had the same e-mail address. This meant that all data besides the e-mail address in the plaxo entries were deleted to match the Live Hotmail entries since those were 'more recent' I assume.

I sent in some feedback and the Plaxo team said they were looking into better control options.

My only error message, by the way, is this:

"We're having trouble synchronizing with your Hotmail account."

There's nothing in the sync log.

Hasn't worked once for me once...all my other sync points work.

Get error that it could not be synced, but nothing is in the sync log.

Although this post is almost 3 months old now, I still can't sync with Hotmail/Windows Live. I really want to try that in the hope, it will indirectly sync my Windows Live Mail Desktop contacts too.

Hi, Mike. Over the last two months, we have resolved a number of issues with Hotmail sync.

However, it appears that you were unable to set up a sync endpoint at all. What output did you see when you tried to setup? Also, did you notice any javascript errors? What web browser are you using? Thanks for your feedback!

Interesting you're pointing me out to (javascript) errors, because I didn't get any errors on screen/pop ups in my IE7 (on Vista) ... but ... now I've paid attention to the status bar and gave me a little error icon. When I click for details I get this. It would do nothing except the progress bar (for hours).

Now foolish enough, I didn't try to use my secondary browser myself, FireFox 2.0.0.5. I've just tried it with FireFox, but with similar result: infinitive progress bar, but no error messages. The web UI buttons (cancel/close) are not working in both IE7 as FireFox.

Hopefully you can fix this. Thanks in advance for at least trying.
