I see that the Outlook categories that were assigned to my contacts where transferred to the new Plaxo online...cool! Great way to sort my contact list.
Now...how can I levergage these same categories to manage my Outlook Calendar sync? I would love to make my Outlook calendar the master, and use the categories to tell which items get synced to the Plaxo calendar.
In addition, would love to further filter shared/publishd calendars based upon what categories I choose...that way would be able to publish a group calendar vs. a family calendar.
Thanks...

I don't believe the calendar categories from Outlook are synced through to Plaxo. You can certainly create different calendars in Outlook (group, family, etc.) and sync them. Then, at the bottom of the calendar you can choose which calendars to display.

Thanks for the suggestion on creating multiple calendars within Outlook...however, that is what I'm really trying to avoid. It is tough enough trying to keep one calendar coordinated between applications, I don't really want to start keeping multiple calendars within the same application!
Outlook has the ability to create categories...and the ability for labels. Between just these two features, Plaxo could create a sync conduit that is extremely flexible.
Since the v3.0 is still in pre-beta stage, there might be time to consider this feature and incorporate it into the product roadmap. If not for the v3.0 release, then maybe for the v3.1 release.

Categories are synced for all items types that support it, so yes the calendar categories should be synced to Plaxo. However, I don't believe there is a way to view these online, except for several standard ones.

So is there a way to setup the sync based upon categories? (And by folder?)
Here is what I would like to do...
I use the Outlook categories in both my calendars and in my contacts.
Additionally, I use the Outlook labels in my calendars (to color code my appointments).
I would like to set up my calendar sync so I can filter out my work appointments so that only my personal calendar items go to plaxo. This would allow my home Outlook to then get automatically populated with any personal items I place on the work Outlook calendar.
By allowing me to configure the Calendar sync to include/exclude specific Outlook labels or categories would accomplish this task. I can keep ONE calendar within my Outlook client at work (corporate exchange server) and my Outlook client at home (POP access to Google Mail) while they both would be in sync via Plaxo.
