Hi,

I have been playing around with Plaxo 3.0 preview on my Mac and I was wondering if the ability to chose which iCal calendars will be sync'd is present or will be coming with the final release? I can't seem to find a way to do this.

Thanks,

Andy

Sign onto your online Plaxo Calendar. Look in the lower right corner of the window and click "Share/Manage. You will be able to select the sync action for each calender.

This feature is in the works and will be included ASAP. Right now we're concentrating on ensuring that sync is solid - we'll improve the customization and control options after that. Thanks for your interest and patience.

Thanks for the info.

Another question. Should all my Plaxo calendars end up in iCal? I have two Plaxo calendars. One called "calendar" and one called "US Holidays". "calendar" is also synced with my Outlook calendar at work and my Google calendar. "US Holidays" also is synced with my Outlook calendar to a folder of the same name. "US Holidays" is a calendar I subscribed to in Google Calendar and it got sync'd in to Plaxo.

"US Holidays" is not showing up in iCal after I sync with Plaxo.

Thanks,

Andy

Any calendar that appears on the Manage tab in the Share & Manage calendar control panel on Plaxo Online should be syncing with iCal. iCal subscriptions should not be synching in either direction (Mac -> Plaxo or vice-versa) Likewise, calendars marked as Read-Only in iCal will not be sync'ed to Plaxo Online.

If the "US Holidays" calendar does appear in the the Share & Manage control panel, try disabling and then re-enabling iCal sync in the Plaxo system preference pane to see if that corrects the problem. I've seen one case where iCal became out of sync with the sync services data and did not show a correctly sync'ed calendar. Resetting the Sync History from within the iSync application preferences cleared it up.

Could you confirm with us if your "US Holidays" calendar appears in the Share & Manage panel?

Thx,
Drew

Hi Drew,

It does appear in the share/manage control panel in Plaxo online. However, it shows it as an "ical" rather than having the "share" option. Also, I tried your suggestions for disabling and re-enabling iCal syncing in the Plaxo preference pane and I reset the sync history in iSync. Neither of those fixed it, but did result in a number of duplicate calendar entries:/

Thanks,

Andy

Andy-

I gave you some incorrect information. As you've noted, iCal subscriptions DO appear in the Share & Manage calendar control panel yet they are not (currently) synced to any other sync point.

I learned today that our Google sync point actually will import your iCal subscriptions as subscriptions in Plaxo Online 3. So, your setup is actually working as expected. Your "calendar" should sync to your Mac but the "US Holidays" iCal subscription should not currently sync down. (We hope to add synchronization of iCal feeds to our various sync points in a future release).

I'm sorry that my suggestion of resetting the sync history in iSync resulted in duplicate entries in your iCal. That appears to be a common negative side effect that I failed to warn you about. I' apologize for my omission and for the hassle it has caused you.

Thanks for the info. The duplicates were not too bad. Took 10 minutes to fix. I also have noticed some other odd things with how all day events are sync'd back and forth between Plaxo, Outlook, and Google but I haven't been able to reproduce it consistently yet. When I do, I'll post it to a new thread.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the changes you all are making with Plaxo. Keep up the good work!

Thanks,

Andy

All day events are still troublesome...there will be a slight update that will improve the situation a bit with our next update to the software but the follow-on release (2nd from now) should take care of the problems.
But any feedback you have on these is great.
