Any news about the j2me sync application?
What kind of functionality can we expect from it?
What phones will it support?
:)

Hi Appel,
Sprint has added the J2ME version of Plaxo Mobile Plus to the deck. Most of the phones are viewer only. The LG lx550 FUSIC supports sync. These phones support a viewer.

Okey, thank you for the info.
So currenly I'm out of luck since I have a Sony-Ericsson k750 and do not live in the US. Why is it Sprint has any say when it comes to j2me applications their customers use?

Hi Grimloch,
These are the instructions that we were told to post for the Sprint Samsung A900M
Here’s how you can get it:
1. From your phone's main menu, select Downloads or my Content
2. Select Applications
3. Then choose Get New
4. Select the Lifestyle & Travel category
5. Select the Social category
6. Download Plaxo Mobile Plus
7. Finally, enjoy!
Which step are you having trouble with?
Best,
Kathy

Hi Kathy... thanks for the reply!
Once I enter the Social Category (Step 5), Plaxo Mobile Plus is nowhere to be found. I've also searched the applications section with "Plaxo", "Plaxo Mobile" and "Plaxo Mobile Plus" and came up with nothing.
What gives?!?

Good question. I'll have to dig into it further.

Thanks. It's like Sprint doesn't even have it available for download. Please let me know what you find.
Is my phone even capable of syncing or just viewing my contacts, etc.?
Thanks again

ok - I got this update:
From your phone's main menu, go to Web
Select Downloads (option 2)
Then select Applications(option 5)
Scroll down to Lifestyle & Travel (option 11)
Select “All” (option 6) to be taken to all apps under lifestyle category
Plaxo is the first on the list
Would you let me know if you find it there?

For us non-americans that do not have our phones altered by phone companies, will Plaxo provide a separate download? Or will it work if we just pretend to use AT&T or whichever phone company that happens to have the correct model listed?
Why are separate versions of the j2me application needed for each phone company anyways? Do they replace the j2me implementation so that a j2me application written for a regular Sony Ericsson phone does not work on a AT&T branded one? Sounds like a support nightmare to me.

We're working on making the j2me application more widely available. In the best case, we'd like to be able to test it on phones before we say it's ready - but it's hard for us to 1) have coverage for non-US operators (though I'd be happy to go test them myself in Europe, Japan, et al.... road trip!) and 2) have all phone models. Perhaps you'd like to be a beta tester for us when we have something ready?

These downloads are only available from the carriers' decks. Sometimes there are differences or carrier-specific things we have to do - e.g. in signing the app. Each carrier has it's own testing process that the app has to go through and pass on each phone before it is put on the carrier deck.
Yes, it does make development and support more difficult.

Sure, I could test your application on the different phones I have available to me when you have something to test.

Any update on why this isn't under the menu as discussed above?
Excited to try this.
