View Full Version : Plaxo creates hundreds of dupe calendar events

I've got some Outlook 2003 calendars and my Google calendar synced up. Plaxo keeps making dupes of recurring events, like birthdays and anniversaries. Now all of my recurring events have hundreds of dupes created for each day.
I took a few hours and tried manually deleting all of these events from Outlook...only to have Plaxo re-add all of the dupes during the next sync. I'm about ready to give up on this software. Is there any way to fix this?

One issue is that currently in the initial sync, Plaxo will not delete any items, so if there are duplicates on one side they will be propagated to the other side. This is only during the initial sync, however if that sync fails it will keep trying to do the initial sync.
You can try contacting support via e-mail (at plaxo.com) if you'd like them to look into what's happening in your setup specifically, but basically the best way to try and resolve this would be either to:
1. Remove all of your sync endpoints, then remove the duplicates from all of your calendars - Outlook, Google, and Plaxo, and then re-set up the sync endpoints.
or
2. Make sure synchronization is successful with all of your sync endpoints first (if you create an event it gets propagated to all the other sync endpoints, etc.), then remove the duplicates - these deletions should then be propagated.

Thanks for getting back to me about this.
1. Remove all of your sync endpoints, then remove the duplicates from all of your calendars - Outlook, Google, and Plaxo, and then re-set up the sync endpoints.
Considering that removing each event requires at least three clicks, compounded by multiple platforms that would be a whole lot more time and effort than I would want to spend on this issue. Just deleting them all from Outlook took hours.
12. Make sure synchronization is successful with all of your sync endpoints first (if you create an event it gets propagated to all the other sync endpoints, etc.), then remove the duplicates - these deletions should then be propagated.
That's probably the step I'll try first. I'm going to take Google Calendars out of the mix first because I think that may be where the problems lie.
I'll report back.
