I know you have some notes on your web site saying the Plaxo does not slow down Outlook, however, that does not appear to be entirely true.
I have three machines that I have been able to use to characterize some very annoying behavior, that most people would refer to as "slowing down Outlook." What really seems to be happening is Outlook is being "stalled" for short periods of time.
- If I am running Outlook 2003 there do not appear to be any problems.
- If I am running Outlook 2007 on Vista or XP Plaxo causes Outlook to periodically "stall."
By stalling, I mean that Plaxo causes Outlook to momentarily stop responding. This happens very soon after making a change to an address contact or the calendar. It is especially noticeable when you make changes to the Calendar. It becomes a problem when you are trying to move or copy items in the Calendar.
Before installing Plaxo on a brand new machine everything "behaved" properly. In this situation I was up and running with my complete calendar, e-mail, and address book inherited from the old machine (>600 address contacts, >1000 calendar entries).
After installing Plaxo the behavior that had been so annoying on my old machine showed up on my new machine. Absolutely nothing else was changed on the new machine before installing Plaxo. Pretty conclusive evidence that Plaxo is the culprit.
I suspect it has to do with automatic updating? Either your Plaxo thread is blocking Outlook or you've got some sort of a lock on an Outlook data field that forces Outlook to hang for a few seconds?
