So, I have Windows XP SP2 with Outlook 2007. I download the Plaxo Toolbar for Outlook and attempt to do the initial login with my username and password and i get the following message:
"Sorry, there was an error communicating with the Plaxo network. Please open the Internet Properties dialog, click on the connections tab and check your connection and proxy settings, then try again....."

This is a new install of the toolbar and a new install of Outllook setup to check my gmail account. I can use the same email address/password combo online and it works without issue.

Similarly, I am unable to login with Plaxo Pulse Notifier. It obviously seems to have to be an issue with the internet settings but nothing out of the ordinary is present (no proxy, medium security settings, etc.)

Any ideas?

Can you try it again? It may have been a temporary error. The Plaxo toolbar communicates with the Plaxo servers much the same way as Internet Explorer, so it would be good to make sure you are able to reach Plaxo through Internet Explorer. If it still doesn't work, I would recommend trying to contact support via e-mail (at plaxo.com).
