View Full Version : Disastrous Sync to Outlook at Work

Things were working great with Plaxo for awhile, but for some reason it stopped syncing to Outlook at work so I got rid of the sync point and re-established it. Unfortunately, because the Sync Manager doesn't give you any indication of how the Plaxo folders map up to the Outlook folders, I ended up syncing all of my private calendar items/notes/tasks/contacts to folders that belonged to a group Exchange Mailbox that is attached to my Exchange profile. Now I am scrambling to delete all my private info from these folders in the group mailbox. Not good!!!

When I am given the choice to set up the sync mappings in the Sync Manager, how am I supposed to know which of the multiple folders labeled "Contacts" in the Outlook column is my main Mailbox Contacts folder? Same goes for Calendars, Tasks, and Notes?

For the time being I am going to have to remove Plaxo from my work machine, as I inadvertantly exposed a lot of personal data to these public Outlook folders, at least temporarily before I noticed what had happened and cleaned it up.

I have seen from some other posts in this forum that the old Plaxo sync tool at least showed you visually what Outlook folder you were syncing with, where did that functionality go??? Seeing "Contacts", "Contacts", and "Contacts" listed as the choices is completely useless. It doesn't even appear to be in the order in which they appear in the Outlook Folder List so you can get yourself into big trouble if you make that assumption.
