Well I'm a little confused - are you using the Plaxo Toolbar for Internet Explorer or the Plaxo Toolbar for Outlook/Outlook Express? Or both? If you're using both, you might try and disable one or the other just to test and see if that changes the behavior.

Also, have you noticed a pattern for when the crashes happen? Is it typically when closing a web browser?

I have also same problem with IE6 in WinXP Pro.
I was using OE toolbar before and decided to unistall it from my OE and continue using through the web (Plaxo Online). After I unistalled the program from my PC and tried to just use it as normal by logging to my account in plaxo.com the IE was crached and the opened IE pages with other contents are were closed!
Still I'm unable to use the Plaxo online by going to the website and log in to my account.

Thumbs up Re: problems with OExpress 6 and Internet explorer

As I have found out this is what was solved my problem and perhaps can solve yours too:

You should disable the following Add-on.
The Add-on name is "QUICKfind BHO Object" and the file name is IEHelp.dll and the type of this Add-on is "Browser Help Object".
The above Add-on make IE to crach when you log into your account in Plaxo Online by going to www.plaxo.com
After disabling this Add-on, the plaxo was able to work peperly.
