Default Icon Showing Contact Status

I have one contact in my Outlook Express address book that "will not show" the little icon beside it that indicates its update status. That very same contact in Plaxo Online shows the icon with its correct status. I have tried syncing numerous times. The icon will not show by the OE contact. This is the only contact that is exhibing this problem. Can anyone help me solve this problem? Thank you very much.

The icon is determined by the name which is displayed, so it's possible that there's something about the name that's causing it to be confused. You can try changing the display name of the contact.

Bryan --

I played around with this a few months back. It seems that whether the status icon displays in Outlook depends on what Outlook form was used to create the contact. It works well on my contacts created with the standard IPM.Contact form, but not with names originally entered with a custom form (like coming in from CardScan), even though those contacts now display the Plaxo logo and update buttons like all the others.

Investigatingly,

Know what? That ain't it. I just switched my Outlook view from "Address Cards" to "Detailed Address Cards," and the icons all showed up on those. Still looking...

...and here it is. In "Customize Current View", make sure the "File As" field is listed first. With "File As" as the first field, the Plaxo flags display without exception.

(I prefer to have "Full Name" first while sorting by "File As", but the Plaxo flags then only show if the two fields are identical.)

My work here is done.

Default WHERE is \"Customize Current View\"?

WHERE is "Customize Current View"? I have no idea what you are talking about?

BTW, I use Outlook EXPRESS, not Outlook. Does that make a difference for you people in the know? I just want this one contact's status icon to show up in my OE address book. Everyone else's does.

Default I fixed it!

Guess what, guys? I fixed it! I still don't know why this ONE name in my whole OE address book behaves this way, but it does.
What I did:
1. Go to address book.
2. Go to "offending" contact.
3. Click to open.
4. Click on name tab.
5. Click on pull-down menu for display.
6. Choose this version of name:
Lastname, Firstname
I don't know why. Eveyone else's names are displayed:
Firstname, Lastname
this, even though I sort by last name. Oh, well. I fixed it to my
satisfaction.

Great to hear you got it working. I had assumed you were using Outlook when I made those suggestions.
